St. Joseph - Patron Saint of Happy Deaths
vinyl, plexiglas, retablo » 31 October 2003
A layered plexiglas over retablo tin piece depicting St. Joseph’s look of shock (or could he be covering up a chuckle) as he views a line of people who died “happy deaths”.
Created for the Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos exhibition at Lawndale Art Center.
On view from October 25 – November 22, 2003.
Tidbit: In Chinese culture, the number four is associated with death.
